I love family traditions!  My mom was amazing at creating special holidays.  Every year we kept the same traditions and anticipated them with great joy.  We’ve blended our family traditions, some McIsaac and some Bates traditions, and a few new to form own.  This year was a little different for our family.  With lots of changes this year, a new job for Abraham and my fifth pregnancy, we simplified and took a break from hosting our annual Easter Brunch/Egg Hunt, yet still enjoyed most of our Easter traditions...
dying eggs
setting out baskets...and finding them filled with treats in the morning
a special Easter outfit
reading scripture and talking about Jesus' death, burial, and resurrection

food on Saturday:: something special for breakfast...this year we enjoyed waffles with fruit (I usually make quiche and scones)
dinner...Ham with garlic mustard, Roasted Potatoes, Grandma Vivian's Macaroni Salad, Green Beans, and Homemade Rolls, with Banana Cream Pie for dessert.

Easter Egg Hunt

attending a Good Friday service and celebrating on Sunday morning with other believers.  We sang this song by Chris Tomlin "I Will Rise".  I love the lyrics ::

There’s a peace I’ve come to know
Though my heart and flesh may fail
There’s an anchor for my soul
I can say “It is well”
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:]

There’s a day that’s drawing near
When this darkness breaks to light
And the shadows disappear
And my faith shall be my eyes
Jesus has overcome
And the grave is overwhelmed
The victory is won
He is risen from the dead

[Chorus:]

And I hear the voice of many angels sing,
“Worthy is the Lamb”
And I hear the cry of every longing heart,
“Worthy is the Lamb”

[Chorus:]And I will rise when He calls my name
No more sorrow, no more pain
I will rise on eagles’ wings
Before my God fall on my knees
And rise
I will rise
